I think that as long as I've been drawing and painting I've always been drawing people. There is something special about how one look can say so much... In the beginning, I drew and painted a lot of people, preferably from all different cultures and also with a lot of colors. I would always look for pictures on Pinterest of beautiful people that I would then paint.
I think this has changed a bit in the meantime, I still paint and draw portraits of people. But now more from the people who are close to me. Or from people I meet in different places... Because for me there is a lot more meaning then, in a way your work is closer to you than if you paint portraits from the internet. My dream, therefore, is to travel around in the future and to portray people I meet.
In addition, I also try to look at the works of other artists and sometimes paint them over to feel how they build up their work or choose their colors... So that I can develop more and more as the person I am and as an artist.

Feel what you feel...
Emotions
Most of my art starts with what I'm feeling. I don't have to think about what I'm going to make, it all comes very naturally. For the last few years, I have struggled with my mental health and it is at such times that I start drawing. Like a kind of bandage for my wounded soul. Sometimes a picture says so much more than a thousand words...
I hope that people can relate to what I make and find comfort in it. Just like I find this while making my work...

Lifecycles

Performance and videos
The idea behind this performance is to represent the four generations from mother to daughter. And to investigate which things you unconsciously take over from each other, how certain things repeat themselves over and over and how you relate to your mother, but also your daughter.
During the performance itself, the sculptures are brought to life and they enter into a dialogue with each other. In this way, you get to hear part of their life story, which you can also find in the drawings surrounding the four sculptures.
There are also four portraits of each individual in this installation so that you can form a better idea of who it really is...
