Lifecycles Performance

This performance arose in the last two years of my secondary education. We had been given the assignment to make a thesis and we were completely free to choose how we wanted to fill it in. At that time I was already busy with painting and drawing and saw this as an opportunity to evolve even more into this.

The idea behind this performance is to represent the four generations from mother to daughter. And to investigate which things you unconsciously take over from each other, how certain things repeat themselves over and over and how you relate to your mother, but also your daughter. During the performance itself, the sculptures are brought to life and they enter into a dialogue with each other. In this way, you get to hear part of their life story, which you can also find in the drawings surrounding the four sculptures.

There are also four portraits of each individual in this installation so that you can form a better idea of who it really is...

Unfortunately, this took place at the beginning of the corona pandemic and I forgot to film this performance. It was also not possible for family and friends to come and see what I find very unfortunate. I hope that I may be able to exhibit it in the future.

The Story's

A book?

My first idea for this installation/performance was actually to make a book of the four generations. In which I would write down the entire course of their life on the basis of a novel, which would then be supported by the drawings I made. This idea soon evolved and the installation was created, but each drawing represents part of someone's story.

So you're free to fantasize what the story could be ;)
